New law allows for speed reduction on Laraway Road
Committed to keeping motorists and pedestrians safe on highly traveled roadways, state Rep. Renee Kosel (R-New Lenox) advanced legislation that will give Will County the absolute authority to change the speed limit signs on Laraway Road. MORE
School calendar approved for 2008-09

Tyler student wrestles way to top
We have a young wrestling star in the district. Austin Rudsinski, a second-grader at Tyler School, recently took first place at the Bantam State Wrestling meet at Bloom Trail High School in Chicago Heights. MORE

NLSD 122 students selected for community play 2/4/08
Twenty-one New Lenox School District 122 students have been selected to perform in an upcoming production of Willy Wonka Junior by the All About Music and Children’s Theatre. MORE
Bracelets sold in memory of Bentley teacher 1/25/08
Bentley School students and staff are selling bracelets in memory of sixth-grade teacher Martha Osuch who passed away in December after a long battle with cancer. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society in Mrs. Osuch’s name.

Kindergarten Information Night rescheduled 1/25/08
The date for the Kindergarten Information Night has been changed from Thursday, Feb. 21, to Thursday, April 10, at Cherry Hill and Spencer Trail Schools. MORE

Nelson Ridge teacher Mike Rokoczy has found a creative way for students learn the periodic table – a mind-number arrangement of chemical elements. MORE
School mascot comes to life 1/25/08
A student with school spirit has livened up the basketball games at one intermediate school by dressing up as the school’s mascot – Bentley the Lion. His family purchased the costume through e-bay, and now he’s keeping spectators entertained with his sideline antics. MORE
