Helping Hands for Hannah:
-----------------------------------
On Friday, February 19, staff and students joined with the community in honoring 8th grader Hannah Bulian, who is waging a courageous battle against acute myelogenous leukemia. Hundreds packed into the Liberty Gym dressed in purple (Hannah’s favorite color) shirts that read “Helping Hands for Hannah”. Mayor Baldermann, members of the police department and fire department each presented Hannah with a special token of affection. The assembly featured a video starring Hannah detailing her battle for her peers. Teacher Bridget O’Brien, an organizer of Helping Hands for Hannah, presented Hannah with a check for $7,100. Students at Liberty contributed to the cause by making donations to vote on the teachers of their choice to have their hair dyed or shaved.
All who attended the pep assembly were impacted by Hannah. Her smile and her brave battle seemed to have touched everyone in the community. Hannah Bulian has inspired everyone lucky enough to be in attendance. She is truly “Liberty’s Sweetheart”.
