6th Grade Language Arts - Spencer Crossing
Reading for meaning and comprehension will be our focus this year. Reading comes easier when you keep your eyes on text and read for pleasure. You are training your brain for your eyes to move along the text, while taking in information. If this only happens during the reading portion of ELA, your brain will take longer to process information. The expectation for reading in Sixth Grade is at least 20 minutes per day.
We use the curriculum from MyPerspectives. I will be guiding students through stories and teaching them how to close read a text and analyze a text for details.
