Curriculum Process

In New Lenox School District 122, careful consideration is given when selecting curriculum. Curriculum adoption is a multi-step process beginning with research. A committee of parents, teachers, and community members are involved in this process. Student data is reviewed to identify needs, current strengths, and areas needing improvement.

Various programs, series, and models are reviewed and tested in the classroom setting by teachers. Discussions occur throughout the process regarding the strengths of each program. Committee recommendations are made and shared with the staff and Board of Education. Information about the new curriculum is shared with parents. Teachers are provided many professional development opportunities upon implementation of the new program or series. The curriculum is evaluated throughout the implementation process.
